DATA CENTER CFD ANALYSIS

What is Computational Fluid Dynamics for Data Centers?

Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) analysis uses air flow modeling to simulate the cooling performance and heat transmission in Mission Critical Facilities. Oxcore offers CFD services to provide system awareness on how to reconfigure the air flow dynamics to reduce hot spots and increase airflow effectiveness. This will enhance the cooling system and overall network performance, alleviating unneeded strain from system "over design" to help lower the PUE.

How Does CFD help Commissioning?

Early CFD analysis helps determine the loading requirements for the HVAC Equipment such as fans, chillers, etc. before the Data Center is brought online. Planned CFD analysis in a project allows for across the board savings on the mechanical and electrical systems.

How Does CFD help Operations?

Predicting what is going to happen to the Data Center during a cooling unit failure is very important. All cooling units are going to require maintenance and occasionally they will fail. Operational procedures can be developed from CFD to address different failure modes. Predicting the thermal condition of the room ahead of the failure is vitally important to the Data Center operator. Having the ability to determine which air cooling units are most critical in a given failure scenario provides the Data Center operators the knowledge of how to effectively control a situation.
